Merry Christmas!

I want to take the time here and wish everyone a very Merry Christmas. If you don't celebrate Christmas than Happy Holidays.
Most of the day today is going to be spent cooking. I cook Christmas dinner for hubby and me. We could go to his familys house but, they eat so late in the day its just easier for me to cook here at home.

Ice Storm 2007

Here are a few pictures I took out my front door and back door. I had to be careful going out the back door since our supply line was laying loose on the ground.

This is the backyard. You can see the downed powerline.

You can click on each picture to see it larger. This is pretty much how the whole city looks. We were lucky in the fact that the trees didn't collaspe down on the house. Several homes had large trees fall into them.

A Very Big Thank-You

I wanted to say thank-you to all the electric crews who came in to Oklahoma, from all over the country to help with restoring power to our devasted state. We had no power for over a week. We couldn't leave and go to a shelter or stay with anyone because of our cats. So we stayed in a cold house and did the best we could. It was the hardest for the first 4 days because we didn't have a generator. It was Thursday before we were able to buy one. I think the hardest day was this past Monday when the electric company finally showed up to turn our power on. We were so excited. When one of the men came back around the house and told us they couldn't turn our power on because of a short in the wiring we were devasted beyond belief. We finally got ahold of an electricain and it cost us a small fortune to have the wiring replaced.
I try to think of how lucky we were through all of this. A friend of ours is dealing with one of the worst things that could possiblily happen to her. Her husband (57 years old) died suddenly Tuesday. My prayers and thoughts are with her and her family today.
I hope everyone has a blessed Christmas.
